A third award for St Joseph’s College

St Joseph’s College in Reading has had an incredibly successful year, culminating in winning the Outstanding Leadership Team at the Leadership Awards in central London on Friday. The awards honour remarkable leaders and organisations for their continuing commitment to leadership excellence. St Joseph’s was the only school to win an award, with other category winners including the Cranfield School of Management and the British Youth Council.

The award won by St Joseph’s recognises “leadership teams who show exceptional cohesion and an ability to work as an integrated unit, where this unity has made a positive and transformational impact on multiple fronts”.

St Joseph’s was presented with the award due to the school’s remarkable progress over the last five years, growing from a girls’ school of just over 300 pupils to a fully co-educational school of over 500 pupils.

The leadership team have overseen a strategy of cutting fees and increasing investment which has led to national recognition and acclaim. The school was also named Independent School of the Year at the end of 2015, and received the Outstanding Progress Award at the Education Business Awards in July.

Andrew Colpus, Headmaster of St Joseph’s, was thrilled to receive the award on behalf of his leadership team: “It is wonderful for St Joseph’s to be recognised once again for its development over the last few years. The leadership team have worked incredibly well as a group to manage the school’s rapid growth and to achieve great things in a short timescale. The school continues to flourish, and this is testament to both the vision and the hard work of not only the leadership team, but all members of the staff community.”

St Joseph’s continues to go from strength to strength, with continued investment in facilities and increasing pupil numbers. Last summer it created three new five-a-side astroturf pitches, refurbished a suite of rooms for the languages department and constructed a new drama studio.
