Here are just a few stories from our schools around the country, all doing great things for BBC Children in Need! Thank you and well done to everyone!
The Peterborough School
We held a Mufti day yesterday and raised around £450 for Children in Need!
Spotacular Kingsley
We are proud to be supporting BBC Children in Need again this year at Kingsley and are determined to make 2017 our best year yet! Everyone across the school has arrived in home clothes, included plenty of spotty ones! There has been lots of Pudsey Bear merchandise on sale and even leg waxing (for the boys!) in the senior school to help create a good total for this terrific charity.
Leighton Park School are raising money for BBC Children in Need today with a mufti theme of 'spotty' or 'sportswear' and our Sixth Form charity group, Amicus, are doing a fantastic job of selling sweets and popcorn to contribute to the cause.
St John’s College Junior School
The School Council pulled out all the ‘spots’ for this year’s Children in Need Fundraiser. Competitions have been running all week to guess the teddy’s name and the number of sweets in the tubs, and today pupils and staff donned spotty socks and ties as they continued to raise money for this fantastic cause.
Teesside High School students set their sights on Children in Need target
Students at Teesside High School are aiming to raise £1000 for Children in Need today [Friday 17 November].
Nursery, Prep, Senior and Sixth Form departments are coming together to celebrate a fantastic day of fundraising and have planned a range of activities designed to encourage staff, fellow pupils and families to give generously.
Pupils will be wearing spotty non-uniform, baking and selling cakes, collecting ‘the round pound’ – old and expired £1 coins – hosting a tug of war contest, encouraging volunteers to brave a dreaded leg wax and putting staff in the stocks for a ‘sponge the teacher’ competition. The School has also arranged a surprise visit from Pudsey the Bear!
Sixth Form student Jon Sutton-Haigh has even pledged to shave his head should students be willing to donate £200 towards his personal goal. He said: “The idea of shaving my head for Children in Need started as a joke by my classmate, but I agreed without really thinking!
“I wouldn’t do something on this scale if it wasn’t for such a worthy cause. Watching Children in Need is heart wrenching and this is a small sacrifice which will hopefully make a big difference.”
Kirsty Mackenzie, Deputy Head at Teesside High School, said: “Today’s fundraising activities will showcase the excellent charitable spirit of staff and pupils at Teesside High.
“As ever, our School community has gone above and beyond to support those less fortunate and enable a great charity like Children in Need to continue its outstanding work in both the UK and further afield.”
Stoneygate School
John Dobson, Headteacher said "Our children did a cake sale, a ‘spotty art competition’ and drew a huge Pudsey in the playground…"
Reddam House Junior School
"We joined in the fun to raise money for Children In Need. Our School Council had decided that it would be a ‘wear your pyjamas to school day’ and children brought in at least £1 for the pleasure. The Year 6 Charities Committee ran the event, including holding an assembly and organising for children to guess the number of sweets in a jar. A wonderful day for all." Cassie Morris, Head of Junior School
Sibford School
The whole school raised £670.80 with £397.99 raised by the Senior School and £272.81 by the Junior School. The money was raised through a series of events. In the Junior School this involved Year 6 pupil, Summer, organising a casuals day and a cake sale of her own initiative.
St. John's College, Cardiff
We had a fantastic day wearing silly socks, an Infant department cuddly toy raffle and an awesome cake sale. Our current total with more appearing everyday is £900!
