The schools Biathlon team had some great success at the National Schools Biathlon at University of Bath at the weekend, with over 1200 competitors taking part over the two days of competitions in the various age groups. The Biathlon is a swimming and running competition with athletes doing different distances depending on their age on a time trial basis and receiving points for the time you do in the swim & run. The person with the most points is the winner, for the team it is 3 athletes from the same school.
In the boys event, Leweston had 7 boys taking part in the U11, Arthur R, Prep 5 was 44th with Ollie M, Prep 5, 51st. In the U16 Mathew P, Year 11, was 19th with Bruce R, Year 11, was 23rd. The boys U14 had an excellent result taking bronze in the team with Reuben C, Year 9, 5th and fastest run, Josh H, Year 9, 13th and Ollie D, Year 10, 36th.
Day two had all the girl’s competition with 10 Leweston athletes taking part, the day got off to a great start for Leweston with the U9 team being crowned national champions by just 12 points which is 1 second in the swim, with Lucia G, Prep 4, 4th, Lexie C, Prep 3, 14th and Tilly W, Prep 4, 17th. In the U10 Izzy K, Prep 4 was 80th, U11 Katrina S, Prep 6, had a good day to finish 10th with Freya D, Prep 5, was 82nd. In the U13s, Esme L, Year 8, was 29th, U14 Jessica S, Year 8, was 16th, and in the U15 Antonia B, Year 9 was 28th!
