St James Senior Boys’ School are extremely proud to announce that we have been awarded School Trip of the Year at the Independent Schools of the Year 2025 Awards, in recognition of our distinctive approach to school trips.
Winning this award is a testament to the vision, dedication, and care of our staff, as well as the enthusiasm and determination of our students. Our trips are not just about travel; they are moments of transformation. Parents and staff remark on the visible impact these journeys have on our students, deepening their understanding of themselves, their peers, and the wider world. Highlights of our programme include residential experiences during Activities Week, cultural and historical immersions in Europe, and challenging adventures such as our Alps Expedition and participation in the Nijmegen Marches. Whether students are climbing 4,000-metre peaks, walking 120km along the Camino de Santiago, or engaging with classical philosophy in Athens, they are constantly invited to step beyond the familiar and to grow in courage, curiosity and character.
Rick Clarke, Head of St James Senior Boys’ School said:
“At St James, we believe in Aristotle's belief that educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all. For this reason, we are delighted to have won the Best School Trip of the Year award as it is recognition of our truly holistic approach to education. School trips can be transformative experiences for young people, and we are proud of the amazing opportunities St James is able to offer our students to discover their place in the world.”
We are honoured to have won this award and received national recognition for our programme and will continue to provide our students with enriching opportunities that encourage self-discovery, resilience and reflection.
