Nine Year 6 pupils from The Royal Prep School travelled to Norfolk to compete in a Greenpower Goblin race car event on Monday 20 June, at a disused runway at RAF Coltishall.
The team arrived early and set up their cars ready for the 'scrutineers' to check them over. They got to know some of the other teams - a useful networking opportunity and a good way to exchange tips on how to improve the performance of the cars! The two cars performed incredibly well. We did have to complete a number of repairs throughout the day and the sprint race at the end of the day was particularly exciting... the school’s star driver, Andrew, managed to lap his opponent! Prize-giving was tense but worth waiting for, as The Royal Prep School scooped five trophies, including overall winner! The team also won best bodywork, achieved 1st place in the slalom race and in the sprint and 3rd place in the drag race. They now look forward to their final race of the season at Goodwood on 10 July.
