This week, Wisbech Grammar School embraced Road Safety Week with a series of impactful events and activities designed to educate and engage pupils in essential road safety practices. Led by the school's dedicated Road Safety Ambassadors, the initiative highlighted the importance of safe behaviour on and around roads while promoting awareness of community road safety heroes.
The week kicked off with a lively and informative assembly for Prep School pupils. The Ambassadors delivered a presentation focused on the Stop, Look, Listen, Think method for crossing roads safely and the need to remain vigilant at all times. They also celebrated the work of Road Safety Heroes, such as emergency responders and medical professionals, who provide vital care following road accidents. The assembly encouraged pupils to reflect on their own role in promoting safer roads and supporting their local community.
Throughout the week, pupils participated in interactive learning activities that reinforced key road safety messages in creative ways. From role-playing safe crossings and designing signposts to solving puzzles and engaging in games, pupils explored practical and memorable strategies for staying safe.
Miss Johnson, who led the activities alongside the Road Safety Ambassadors, expressed her pride in the pupils’ enthusiasm and commitment.
"Road safety is an essential life skill, and our pupils have embraced the opportunity to learn and engage with it in meaningful ways. Their enthusiasm throughout the activities has been inspiring, and hearing pupils tell me how much fun they had truly made my day! A huge well done to everyone involved," said Miss Johnson.
This engaging week at Wisbech Grammar School reflects the school’s commitment to equipping pupils with the knowledge and awareness they need to navigate roads safely and advocate for safer communities.
