Children at Westholme Prep have brought their creative writing to life – after requesting the help of various departments of the whole school to help in their superhero quest!
Youngsters in Prep shared the story about ‘Supertato’ and his fight against the Evil Pea.
To bring the character to life, staff enlisted the support of various faculties to enrich their learning experience.
Judith Dixon, Lower Prep Deputy Head of the Prep School at Westholme, said the children received a letter from the Evil Pea informing them that he was gathering his army of peas to descend on Westholme’s kitchen.
Mr Walker, Director of Creative Arts and Technology (4-18), invited the children to use computer aided design and 3D printers to create a superpowered bubble wand – which they could use in their quest to banish the Evil Pea.
The children also set to work to make Supertato capes and superhero masks to help them in their quest.
Armed with their bubble wands and a map of the school, the children set off to find and capture the army of peas and The Evil Pea himself who were hiding all over the rural site at Westholme – including the theatre, tech rooms, dining hall, swimming pool, student reception and even Dr Robson’s office!
The Evil Pea and his army were finally captured and prevented from causing chaos in the Westholme kitchen.
Mrs Dixon added: “This project demonstrates our pioneering empowered educational philosophy and how we are now working as a whole 4-18 school approach. Reception pupils benefit from having access to the incredible facilities across the whole school to enrich their learning experiences.
“Here at Westholme School we offer all children the chance to experience unrivalled holistic excellence via world-class teaching and access to state-of-the-art facilities and resources.”
