Performing arts students from Westholme School are set to showcase their musical talents on stage at Disneyland Paris next year.
After successfully auditioning for a coveted spot, 46 students from years 8 to 13 will travel to Disneyland on the outskirts of Paris, France, next February, where they will sing and dance on the Videopolis Stage within Disneyland in what is sure to be the performance of a lifetime.
After impressing Disneyland execs with their audition video – which included performances from the musical Fame – Amy Holland, Director of Performing Arts at Westholme School, informed pupils that they had been invited to take their talents oversees for a special trip.
Amy said: “To be selected for this is incredibly special as this year Westholme celebrated turning 100 years and so have Disney and so this opportunity just felt like it was meant to be! It really is the dream of a lifetime.”
“The students involved are so excited. We have been rehearsing since just before the summer and have twice weekly rehearsals. They are enjoying the music and dance numbers and cannot wait to take to the stage.
“I feel very proud of the students and of the hard work of our choreographers. Westholme is a very special place and school and to be able to give our students this incredible opportunity and also showcase the talents of our students is truly a wonderful thing.”
The special performance has been choreographed by dance teacher, Karen Barber, along with parent Rebecca Atkinson and features numbers from The Greatest Showman, the musical Wicked and Sing, Sing, Sing, a 1920’s dance number.
Anyone visiting Disneyland on 13 February next year will be able to watch the show and it will also be streamed live from Westholme’s performing arts Instagram account.
Following their performance, Westholme students have also been selected to be part of The Disneyland Performing Arts Pre-Parade which takes place before thousands of Disneyland visitors and involves the students learning specially prepared choreography.
