On Monday 5 December, Year 5 Royal Prep School pupils put on their very own Christmas Market and managed to raise £642! As part of The Royal School’s unique Future Ready Programme, under the 'Finance and Entrepreneurship' strand, Year 5 pupils have been working very hard to dream up a business idea. They had to use a small business loan to invest in designing and making a product to bring to market and work collaboratively to make decisions about costs, production and marketing. Ms Stephanie Roberts, teacher, said, “Our pupils did a fantastic job dreaming up original ideas and then merchandising their stalls to maximise sales. The pricing structures were well thought out and flexible depending on customer interest! We were so proud of them actively selling their products to the rest of the school and parents. The whole school community had opportunities to buy home-made gingerbread, fudge, brownies, bracelets as well as bespoke hand-made bottle stoppers, bath bombs, 'squishies' and soap. Very well done Year 5, what a fantastic effort!”
The funds raised will be split between the children, a donation towards their Goblin kit race cars and their chosen charity - Guide Dogs for the Blind.
