Pupils at Westholme School have been writing to their favourite Disney characters to wish the company a happy centenary.
The school, which also celebrates 100 years since it opened its doors this year in Blackburn, has created a special Disney-themed postcard to send.
All the postcards have been beautifully handwritten by the pupils – and are now on their way to the Orlando and California resorts along with a covering letter.
Emma Robson, Prep Academic Assistant Head, said: “We all love Disney films, resorts and animations (even our Principal, Dr Robson!) and have been finding out about the Studios’ centenary in lessons.
“The pupils thoroughly enjoyed bringing in their favourite Disney toys and writing to their favourite characters to mark Westholme’s very own centenary year.
“The children have written to Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Olaf, Beast, Stitch and all of their friends to wish them a very happy anniversary.
“A reply from our favourite Disney characters would be the icing on the cake to mark this historic year. We really hope Disney enjoys reading our goodwill messages.”
Westholme School was opened on April 19 1923 by two inspiring young women - Miss Emily Singleton and Miss Ivy Richmond - just a few months before The Walt Disney Company was born.
The school has a year-long programme of events to mark its special milestone – from centenary lunches for alumni, a gala ball, special guests, and centenary merchandise.
