On 10 November Leweston School celebrated World Science Day, with their students busy in the laboratories. Year 7 were focusing on friction whilst Year 8 looked at pressure. Both of these were brought to life with practical experiments. Meanwhile Year 10 were making standardised solutions in Chemistry and Year 12 students carried out titration practical work, using an alkali solution of known concentration to calculate the concentration of an acid solution. Acid was added to the alkali solution until the indicator changed colour showing that neutralisation had been achieved.
Leweston Prep were also delving into their Science Focus with Prep 5 looking at forces. The class were investigating both air and water resistance. This involved seeing how the shapes of an object affect water resistance and how air resistance can slow down their speed of running. Prep 4 have been learning to make simple circuits and to identify the different components in a range of circuit diagrams.
